Strategies to Convince – Are they working? Hmmmmmm???
The methods at which businesses and communities are trying to reach out and garner members vary depending on the technology they are promoting. Imagine FireFox that has been a long time in the making, a product of the Mozilla Foundation that came up with a web browser that was not only faster but much better than the long standing leader of the pack, Internet Explorer. They considered the changing web and how people are using the web, designed a framework, published the designs and asked for comments, suggestions and just about anything you might want to say to improve on the proposed browser. Get back down and incorporate the best suggestions in terms of improvement and release the browser into the wild that is the internet, viola, success in the making.
We can see Firefox as one of the best examples of the benefits of an open-sourced development project that has ruled the net since it was introduced. It wasn’t perfect, but people still loved it, why? The developer released their ideas and took them to the masses, and listened, that is something void of most other development projects of days past that utilized secret development processes that people knew nothing about. That is the benefit of having a community composed of just about anybody who wants to say something about a project in development and then trying to streamline the resulting list to come up with the best possible improvements to the initial design. This has allowed the open-project that is FireFox to succeed, taking the voice of their users in the design process making it more amiable thus softer when it comes to the decision making process of which to use.
