Open Source Security – Major Concern
More and more businesses are considering the benefits in terms of cost in re-deploying their previously closed programs onto open systems that can be quite prone to hacking. Security has been on the agenda and is one of the major focus of developers and technology experts who have been promoting the new and improved open-system designs. Securing a very large distributed system that uses open technology is a very large task but developers are getting there, finally agreeing on how best to approach the security of the many projects being deployed or are already in place.
While developers are trying to cope with the security measures that they hope will make it harder to breach the many open sourced projects, using information they gather from other developers to come up with the best approach to address the concerns of security. People and businesses are already taking notice of the technology that is open-sourced, based on the community rather than ona strictly defined set of rules designed behind closed doors. Time may come when most of us have applications that run on open systems out in the clouds, with it being the next step, in the evolution of the IT industry.
